Today

Today my jack russell ripped the siding off my house.
I caught her in the act.
Carpet, fences, mice, floors , couches,  my emotional stability, they don't stand a chance against a jack russell on a mission.

Good stuff

This weekend was super busy, and a blast!
Friday started early riding the horses at darenth, then off to surefire!
Kari was competing her horse in the training division. The course's were solid. The way that kari and Kaliente looked, they are not far from their prelim debut. Kaliente and kari have really formed an understanding and a partnership. Kaliente is going through a lot of body changes, strength, balance, etc. she is a super over achiever and with just a little work with in a month or two they will always be show jumping clear. Kaliente added just one rail to end in 2nd after her amazing dressage and xc!!!! Hopefully pictures will follow!

After Surefire, over to waredaca to walk some courses!
My excitement of taking Summer on Sunday was fizzled out by a heel grab. Having amazing movement and a desire to play in the field has it's downside. :(  She is almost back to normal though and I am foaming at the mouth to ride her!

Sunday was Alison and Knicks Novice debut. It was AWESOME!!!!!
Knick and Alison both looked so happy and like they were having the time of their lives!
They did so perfect, I was so proud!
Callie was very good for her dressage. I did what mara told me for warm up, it sure worked!

Beast was good but a but full of herself. This has been the case lately. I think it's time for some fun for beasty!

Waredaca was the place to be!

Yesterday afternoon was great despite the heat!
Beast and Callie went early and we enjoyed our flat lessons with Mara Depuy.
Mara will be at some of the bigger shows I have coming up so between her and Stephen I will finally have a plan for warm up coaches! Yay!!
I wanted to stuff Vanessa in my suitcase for the big overnight shows. All though she would fit quite easily, I don't know that she would like it very much. Her 10,000 students and two barns would miss her an awful lot.
Summer is trying to challenge me for saying Callie is the bravest horse I have ever sat on. I <3 Summer.
Kari, Allison, and Hannah looked great and worked on their various tasks. Knickerbocker was not a fan of the warm up area.

The next few weeks/months are going to be busy ones.

Summer is going to Waredaca unrecognized this weekend. So is Alison, Hunter, and Alex. Beast and Callie will also be going to Waredaca to do some schooling tests.
Kari will be going to Surefire the day before.
Next weekend will be my clinic (Yayyyy)  and trailering out on Sat for some more lessons.

Then it's Loch Moy! It is crazy how fast everything is moving.

I am going to work on my two mares flat work double time.
Summer is pretty straight forward on the flat. Well, who am I kidding.....She is naturally perfect so if I have her attention, then she will earn 8's and 9's on her own.
I am going to be doing a lot of lessons with a lot of people but I am starting to feel a plan that works the best with both Mares.

My jumping work will center around Stephen through the end of August where Beast is aiming for the CIC 2*.   Stephen is going to be in the area a lot and I have known him for so long, I am comfortable and familiar with his ideas, plans and road to get to those plans.
Stephen also knows my horses most intimately of all the people I ride with. Whether he likes it or not.
I will be lucky enough to also sneak in a few lessons with Sharon White and Jimmy Wofford. I miss Sharon terribly. I am so thankful that Kelley Williams and A Bit Better Farm (WHO JUST GOT NEW AND IMPROVED FOOTING!) has Sharon come there regularly. I really enjoy riding there and with my friends there!

I feel like I am really ready for a lot of the stuff that Sharon and I have talked about and I am trying to get Callie where she needs to be to most benefit from my lessons with Sharon.

Broke. Callie needs to be more broke.

I will try to ride with Mara as much as possible before Millbrook and Richland. I want to have her familiar with my horses. This will maximize the benefit of warm up help at the shows.
It is also best to ease people into my personality. I try to talk as little as possible in the first few meetings.;)

I will of course be riding with Vanessa. That is a given.
I will also be scooting over to Fred Weber's for some dressage work.

I get around.

I am happy to be learning so much. The things that don't work for me often work for my students.
I take many lessons for the knowledge and ability to share that knowledge the best way that I can.

I am aware that I think differently then everyone else. I have always had to find creative ways to understand generic concepts. I have the desire to be accommodating to every student and the special way that they learn. I love teaching so much and I will never stop trying to be a better instructor.

I find it interesting that I seem to have settled with three instructors for flat and jump.
Both groups of three seem to have two opposite teaching styles and then one in between.

I am so happy to do what I do for a living.
I am thankful for all that are a part of it and make it all possible.

It has been a really great week and I am looking forward to all that is coming up.

Maria Teresa Toddler face

That is the name of my ego.
My friend named her ego and it sounded like a good idea.

If I name my ego, and give her a persona, then I can ignore her and tell her to go away.

Why this name?

Well, I will break it down....

Maria- My ego has a fiery side to her. Like a hot tempered puerto rican woman. I can picture my ego looking at times a bit like a friend I had growing up. She always knew when to take herself out of a situation before her "fire" would show up. Her "fire" was fast and furious.
I try to keep Maria locked up and hidden at all times. She has not made an apperance in years.

Teresa- Named after the insane bi%*h from "Real house wives of New Jersey". For those of you who have not landed on this channel and found yourself forced to watch, driven by morbid curiosity, I will explain Teresa.
She is crazy.
She argues and makes no sense and while she makes no sense she flails her arms around and her 4000 dollar bracelets jingle jangle together.
Then she turns red faced and stupid.

Toddler face- This is usually the part of my ego that Dave has to deal with. This is the "I am pathetic and never do anything wrong and the world is out to get me so I am gonna cry"........"Can I do it?"......"I do everything wrong and nothing right"......"I didn't do it"
Toddler face can switch from mad to sad in a minute. Toddler face is usually who comes out after a show that didn't go as planned.

Maria Teresa Toddler face often tries to tell me I shouldn't listen to good advice.
She tells me that I should not waste my time with things that are beneath me and that I am above a lot.Sometimes though she tells me though, that I am not good enough.

Now I know this is the part of the blog where it may just sound like the rantings of a crazy person.
What I am trying to say is Ego's make bad decisions and give bad advice.
If we make choices with our egos, and only ask advice from people who don't want to hurt our ego's then we are stupid.

We limit our selves and success.
Ego's don't like us to take chances because we could fail. But we can never make progress if we don't fail sometimes.

Anyways all I am saying is as I travel down this road of life. I am going to try to have Mary be present more and Maria Teresa Toddler face be present less.

I think it might make showing super fun.
Mary has a freaking good time at lessons. Maria Teresa Toddler face has been banished to the side lines to watch.

Senneca

Both my students out did themselves this weekend.

I am not just saying that to be nice or make them happy, they really out did themselves.

Emily was as usual, 1st after dressage and show jumped clean........... well not only show jumped clean but her horse jumped her heart out and Emily helped her.
Em had the best cross country I have seen in a long time. Maybe ever.
Emily and Jazz were not at Senneca with all those people and all that commotion and distraction. They were in Emily and Jazz world.
Part of the reason that they were so amazing is because of the best run out ever. I don't really know what happened because I couldn't see fence 4, but I don't need to have seen it. Emily and Jazz had a moment, a experience........ a "something" that made it all come together. It was brilliant. It was one of those days that makes my job so much fun, and makes me cry because I am so proud. Emily has mastered what I try to teach from all the coaching, training, sports performance books, and my constant stalking of Rebecca Lee. The ability for things to be what they are.
Things are mostly good if you let them be.
Things are not emotional in horse training/teaching.(Except when you are super proud and cry). They are curious.
There should be no stress about performance. Performance is stress in its self.
You are prepared when you arrive. Or you don't go.
Emily was prepared, she trained then she allowed.
Emily still ended up in the top 10 even with a silly glance off. (Horses will always throw in a thing or two)
I see great things ahead for Emily and Jazz.

Alex rode his green little Duncan great in all three phases.
Duncan tried his little heart out in dressage. They were grass rings and Duncan <3's studs.
Alex rode great. His dressage is going to be very special very soon. Duncan has what I want  to buy for my mares. Relaxed gaits. He also is a pretty stinkin cute mover.
Duncan also jumped his little heart out in the show jump. This horse is starting to put it all together and once he does, Alex is going to have to sport a grab strap like his coach.
Speaking of like his coach, Alex likes to tell Duncan exactly whats going on cross country. Out loud. Verbally.
I love it.
Duncan seems to understand "Human". He was about as perfect as a little Duncan can be.
I see great things in the future for me and Duncan.

I mean Alex and Duncan ;)

Also Alex and Duncan.

I have amazing photography skills.

CHECK IT OUT!!!!

http://www.facebook.com/events/481551695193729/

Busy Busy!

Yesterday was super Busy.
Beasty and Callie took a pause from their staycation to jump with Mr. Bradley in the clinic at A Bit Better farm.
Oh my gosh, it was so fantastic! It was one of those lessons that make all the craziness and hard work worth it.

Both mares were so perfect. Beasty was a bit wild from her super light week but jumping like a dream. Callie was happy and using herself and a love bug. She must be down with her new saddle and all the walk hacks! And the magic number 6/1. (June first....it's a magic time for mares)

Then after the clinic, Magalicious had a little ride back at Darenth with Aunty Elizabeth supervising.
I taught Alison C while Maggie was riding. Alison rode our new horse Justin (Just-in time). They looked so great. A match made in Heaven.

Then Mr. Fabry jumped with out stirrups. He looked so good I kept forgetting he didn't have stirrups!!!

Little Piper practiced her canter rhythm and she sure looked good! She is so stinkin cute.

Katie C and her boy Willis had a bunch of little breakthroughs as they went along. Willis did some awesome floaty work.

I also worked Alexis and Packer for a little bit. Packer is really starting to come along in his flat work!

Today started well, it was also busy. Poor Dave was at work until 11pm last night and got up at 430 this morning to go back.
Maggie bear did not want to get out of bed this morning! She was half asleep while I french braided her hair. We started the trek to Dina's house in New Market, dropped her at 730 and started teaching Emily at Serra Valley at 8.
Em did a great job. We worked on finding the appropriate canter for each fence. She and Jazz are really coming along well and seem very well prepared for Senneca.
After a short drive, Heather had her lesson on her horse Bolter. Bolter was a sleepy head but was quite obedient! It was great to see!!!

Then I had the awesome treat of taking Summer to cross country school with Gretchen Butts! I really can not express how much I love riding with Gretchen. Her mind is so methodical and her teaching is so planned, structured, and knowledge filled. It is so nice to ride with her because I get so much from it. It is also so nice for the horses to have positive exposure at a busy farm.
Summer could not have been better. I love her.

Callie came along for a flat school and she also was a delight!
Callie will be going all over the place doing dressage lessons, shows and rides in fields and new or weird environments. Bye Bye bucky Callie, hello Callie scoring in the 20's.

Beasty has four days off and then she is going back to regular work.

After I was done with the mares, off to Olney I went and everyone there did so well.

Alex and his horse Duncan have come so far in such a short time!
Alex does such a great job with Duncan and Duncan was jumping out of his skin tonight. He looked amazing!

Super Rachel and her Super pony had a great go. Rachel keeps me on my toes as an instructor. I always come up with my lesson plan and she always makes short work of it. I have to think fast to keep up with her. Courtney always does this to me also. THEY ARE ON TO ME. :)

Lisa and her mare had a different ride then normal. Ella (the horse) was WAY more quiet then usual so Lisa got to work on her position and being really relaxed and it was neat to see.

Dave and I are going to have dinner and a movie now. Maggie bear is "in bed". She should be sleeping but she is up there chattering away.

Time to relax.

I'm a genius

When hooking up your goose neck, if you can't see the ball by looking through the back window, do this! Line it up and your good to go!!!!

Project RELAX

Has started.
This involves eating and trail riding. Callie is the main candidate for the project.
She has gotten quite fit since last fall and her back tension has cost her her dressage scores. Her bucking may have something to do with it as well ;).
Callie hacked down our driveway and back twice. One small step for man, one giant leap for mary kind.

A huge congrats to Alexis and her successful move up to Novice ! She rocked at loch moy!

What is up?

Maggie rode in the Darenth Farm show today!!!!

Miss Julie helped her earn her ribbons!

Maggie Bear rode Bandit and Suzie.
Then Maggie ran a muck and Elizabeth, Abby, Taylor, Grace and lots of other people hung out with Maggie.
 Maggie is such a lush.

Maggie and Daddy with their ribbons.
Myra was so courteous and polite. She is such a good hostess, always introducing herself politely.

Oh Maggie, how you wore everyone out.
